Community Event Sponsorships

United Way offers Community Event Sponsorships for an event that aligns to our Bold Goals and is requested by currently funded community partners or other trusted local groups and organizations.

Preventing Hunger & Homelessness through:

  • Reducing hunger for children and families through collaborative initiatives focused on increasing access to high-quality food that meets individual needs, including nutritional, medical, religious, and preferences-based needs; and increasing access to food security.
  • Reducing homelessness for youth and families with children through collaborative initiatives focused on increasing supportive services to quickly access housing when identified as homeless or identified at-risk of becoming homeless.

Preparing Children to Succeed through:

  • Preparing children for kindergarten socially, emotionally, and academically by increasing availability of high-quality programs, developing systems to identify children in need of special education or early interventions, delivering supplemental services for children and families needing additional support, supporting programs to promote family engagement activities, ensuring homes and parents have the tools to identify barriers for children, and ensuring families are connected with community-based resources.
  • Prepare students to graduate with opportunities to continue their education or enter the workforce through timely support for students at risk of not meeting key benchmarks, supporting quality rating and improvement system for community-based out-of-school-time (OST) programs, connecting students with opportunities to further develop career aspirations and relevant experiences, empowering families to identify barriers to student success and connecting them with resources, and supporting schools and community-based organizations in implementing full-service community school models.

Strengthening Families through:

  • Increasing employment and income to improve financial stability. Programs aligned with this strategy may leverage approaches that support families experiencing poverty by providing supportive services, skill development, or training that increase employability. A particular focus on populations experiencing the greatest disparities in our community will receive preference.
  • Increasing family and social support to reduce barriers to access social, emotional, and mental health resources. Programs aligned with this strategy may leverage approaches that include improving access to counseling, therapeutic interventions, crisis management and peer support. This includes programs that build social capital and support long term behavioral health outcomes through preventative measures.
